AKANAT GALLERY
The Akanat is a virtual gallery since 2016, based in Yerevan Armenia. The official opening of the Akanat gallery was held on December 17, 2001. The name of the gallery comes from the noun akanat (or aknat), prevalent in some Armenian dialects. It refers to an opening in the common wall of two adjacent houses, through which neighbors maintain contact with one another and exchange goods. Throughout these years, many Armenian and international artists have been exhibited at Akanat. Akanat has cooperated frequently with the Utopiana organization of contemporary art (Switzerland-Armenia), the Institute of Contemporary Art (Yerevan), the Inknagir literary club (Yerevan), and other organizations. Since 2016, Akanat is active in the virtual domain.
